Winners - UWIN Best Paper Award - 1st edition

Welcome to UniCredit & Universities!

The three winners of the UWIN Best Paper Award, launched in January 2011 by UniCredit & Universities Foundation in cooperation with UWIN -UniCredit Women’s International Network, have been selected.
The competition, open to all young economists and researchers from the 22 countries in which UniCredit operates, awarded prizes to the three outstanding papers on “Economic consequences of gender equality in Europe”.
The winners, selected by an ad-hoc Commission composed of Matthias Doepke from Northwestern University, Paola Profeta from Bocconi University and Barbara Petrongolo from London School of Economics and Political Science, are (in alphabetical order): 

• Pamela Campa (Italy) - Gender Quotas, Female Politicians and Public Expenditures: Quasi-Experimental Evidence

• Chiara Pronzato (Italy) - An examination of paternal and maternal intergenerational transmission of schooling

• Michelle Rendall (Germany) - Rise of the Service Sector and Female Market Work: Europe vs US

Winners will be awarded €5,000 each, and the papers will be published in the Working Paper Series of the Foundation.

Congratulations to the winners and to all the participants for the high quality and originality of the papers received.
